A fantastic start to the new school year with a special Welcome Assembly 

Teachers from grades 3 to 5 put on an amazing show with skit, quiz time, and dance that brought smiles all around.

We were thrilled to welcome our new students into our school family. A special shoutout to Principal Ms. Alka Awasthi, who not only welcomed the kids warmly but also emphasized the importance of discipline in her address. 

Ms. Awasthi encouraged all students to practice yoga for both physical fitness and mental well-being.

Teaching Maths with a Twist!

Mayoor School 4th and 5th graders took the excitement outdoors with a fun-filled hopscotch activity designed to teach the place value system in a uniquely engaging way.

Students from Class IV dove into the Indian place value system, while Class V explored the international format.  

The energy was high, the laughs were plenty, and the learning was deep. Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi motivated the young learners to engage actively in every learning opportunity.

On April 16, 2024, the VII grade pupils participated in the Intra-section activity "The Unstoppable," believing that everyone has the ability to influence their own destiny. The students reminded that learning lessons and developing resilience along the road are more important indicators of success than reaching the pinnacle. By emphasizing the transformative power of perseverance and resilience, the activity illustrated the key to unlocking one's full potential.
The narratives made it clear that failures serve as pretexts for victories and that courage can be inspired by fear. The speakers' goal was to encourage and inspire the audience to follow their aspirations with courage and tenacity. 
The Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi motivated the students to approach their endeavours with unwavering dedication and an indomitable spirit.

The students thoroughly enjoyed the activity and expressed a heightened sense of responsibility towards our planet. They're eager to continue their recycling efforts and make even more positive changes in the future.

Grade 12 Takes Centre Stage: Navigating Changes & Insecurities 

Students of XII A & B presented the first assembly of the session on 16 April 2024. The assembly addressed the timely and relevant topic of "Navigating Changes and Insecurities. 
This well-constructed presentation resonated deeply with students as they prepare to embark on new and exciting paths, the assembly provided valuable insights and strategies for navigating the inevitable changes and anxieties that accompany transitions.

The highlight of the assembly was a short skit wherein students showcased the stress and pressures they undergo. Concluding on an uplifting note, the assembly culminated with a rendition of the inspiring song "Hum Honge Kamyab" (We Shall Overcome).

The assembly also served as a platform to celebrate outstanding achievements.  Students who recently secured victories in tournaments and participated in prestigious events were recognized for their dedication and accomplishments. All first time Mayoorians were invited to introduce themselves and become familiar with their new environment. 

Principal Ms. Alka Awasthi commended the students for their initiative and the thought-provoking theme they chose.  She expressed her appreciation for the assembly's content and delivery, encouraging them to conquer the world and pursue their dreams with unwavering focus and determination.

True beauty emanates from our actions and aspirations, as well as the kindness we extend to others. 

Continuing Mayoor's legacy of promoting environmental consciousness, the school recently orchestrated a Book Donation Drive in collaboration with the NGO Guzarish on result day for grades VI-VIII. Students wholeheartedly contributed their old books, knowing they would benefit underprivileged students. This altruistic gesture not only provided educational resources to those in need but also nurtured a spirit of empathy and generosity among the students. Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi, commended this initiative, urging everyone to remain mindful of the less fortunate and foster a culture of giving within the school community.

Athletes from all houses showcased their talent and competitive spirit in a thrilling InterHouse Athletic Meet for classes VI-VIII held on February 23rd, 2024. The atmosphere was charged with excitement as participants competed in a variety of events including the 100m and 200m sprints, relay races, and hurdle races.

The event commenced with a patriotic fervor as the school flag was hoisted and balloons were released by the Principal Ms Alka Awasthi, inspiring all athletes to strive for excellence with true sportsmanship. Cheers echoed across the field as housemates rallied behind their respective teams, displaying unwavering support and enthusiasm.

Empowering Voices: A Celebration of the Women Reservation Act, 2023

Women reservation is a testament to the belief that progress, equality, and potential bloom when every voice is heard and every perspective embraced.

In an effort to raise awareness about the pivotal provisions of the Women Reservation Act, 2023, the students of XI H organised an informative and engaging assembly that focused on the recently enacted 106th Amendment Act, 2023, which received successful approval in the Lok Sabha on September 19, 2023. According to the stipulations of the Act, one-third of seats in Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assembly are now designated for women candidates.
Commemorating the significant accomplishment of this legislation, a street play, showcasing the challenges faced and the ultimate triumph in the enactment of the Women Reservation Act, 2023 was performed. This was followed by a dance performance and a soulful rendition of melodious songs, highlighting the empowerment of women, captivated the audience.  
Applauding the students for the edifying assembly, Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi encouraged everyone to stay well-informed about the latest developments in the Constitution.

An Ode to the Fortitude of Men: Celebrating Strength, Resilience, and Endurance
 
The true measure of a man is revealed in his ability to smile amidst troubles, draw strength from distress, and cultivate courage through reflection.
In alignment with the worldwide observance of International Men's Day, the students of classes IX G and H conducted an assembly, on the theme, ‘Honouring Men and Boys’.
At the outset, the assembly set a tone of reverence and inspiration by showcasing a presentation highlighting the names of illustrious individuals who have served as exceptional positive role models for generations to emulate. The pivotal point of the event, the skit, unfolded a poignant narrative underscoring the crucial significance of supporting men and boys to foster a secure environment for men and encourage a collective step against the prevailing gender stereotypes. Adding to the grandeur, the students presented a thematic dance based on the motivational poem, ‘Tu Khud ki Khoj Mein Nikal’ followed by a mesmerizing instrumental performance and a short quiz on great intellectuals who transformed society with their commendable contributions. The astounding achievements of the students across a range of Inter-School competitions were duly recognized and awarded during the assembly, providing a befitting conclusion to event.

Nurturing Penmanship through Intra-Class Competition

In an effort to foster legible handwriting and enhance presentation skills, Mayoor School, Noida organized an Intra-Class English Handwriting Competition for Class III (A-I) students. The competition was met with unwavering enthusiasm from the participants, as they eagerly showcased their calligraphic prowess.

Each student meticulously penned down a prescribed paragraph from their textbook, demonstrating their grasp of letter formation, punctuation, and overall writing style. The assessment, conducted by the teachers, focused on evaluating the neatness, legibility, formation of letters and writing patterns.

In an era dominated by digital devices and keyboard communication, concerns have arisen regarding the diminishing importance of handwriting. An Inter-House Hindi Hasya Kavita Pratiyogita was organised for class IV wherein young talents showcased wit and humour. During the lively event , Participants, with creative props and excellent delivery, won judges' hearts and  infused boundless joy into the delighted audience.
The result was as follows: 1st Position-  Tanishi Seth (Krishanu House), 2nd Position Sanveer Singh (Krishanu House) & Shaivi Chauhan (Amber House), 3rd Position Yash Singh Bisht (Amber House). Krishanu House clinched the top spot overall.  
The Principal commended the participants for their outstanding performances.

Expressing their thoughts on national unity, they penned paragraphs and even recited poems dedicated to this vital concept. The Rashtriya Ekta Shapath activity saw these young minds pledging to uphold our nation's integrity. Through a tapestry of activities honoring Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Jayanti, our students discovered a deeper love and pride for our incredible nation. Conciseness is the key to effective communication

The vibrant spirit of 'Just A Minute '(JAM) competition at Mayoor School, Noida, showcased the brilliance of Class IV students. The Interhouse event aimed to spotlight presence of mind, thought coordination, and communication prowess. In a dynamic session, children delivered on-the-spot persuasive speeches within sixty seconds, which impressed both the audience and judges with their confidence, diction, and spontaneous ideas.

bagged the first position, the second position was a tie between Omar Kashif Baig(4G)
of Vasudha House and Aarav Kumar(4H) of Krishanu House and the third position was

Young Minds Embrace Sustainability Through Paper Bag Art

In a vibrant display of creativity and environmental consciousness, students of Class IV embarked on a journey to transform ordinary paper bags into unique works of art, all while championing the message of sustainability.

The activity began with an eye-opening information about the environmental hazards of plastic bags. Students learned that these are difficult and costly to recycle, with the majority ending up in landfills, where they take a staggering 300 years to decompose. 

The students eagerly delved into the world of paper bag customisation. They poured their creativity, transforming plain paper bags into vibrant masterpieces. Their efforts not only fostered artistic expression but also instilled in them a profound sense of responsibility towards the planet.

Principal Ms. Alka Awasthi commended the creativity, enthusiasm, and environmental awareness that students demonstrated throughout this activity.  She said that together, we can make a significant impact on the environment, shaping a greener and healthier future for generations to come.

Seven Class VI students embarked on a mission to SETU on November 30, 2023, to nurture societal responsibility. They elucidated Parts of Speech through real-life examples, sparking vibrant participation in Dumb Charades. The “I Spy” game ignited creativity, while fervent engagement marked the ‘preposition’ chit game.
SETU’s students cherished the love received. This transformative experience cultivated confidence and imparted the essence of altruism, imprinting the value of giving back upon these young minds.

Gratitude is the Right Attitude 

"Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates vision for tomorrow."

With this spirit, the students of Class IV E & I presented an assembly on the theme 'Gratitude'. It started with a prayer, showing gratitude towards God followed by a short skit in which a little boy who was always ungrateful for what he had, encountered a life changing incident that made him realise the value of all the blessings in his life. The students rejoiced and showed a seamless blend of poetry, music and dance on the theme.

Principal Ms. Alka Awasthi enlightened the students with her wisdom and elaborated that it is important to show gratitude in life. It is the catalyst for success and happiness. She congratulated students for presenting a wonderful assembly.

Special Assembly: Good always Prevails

Students of class V of Mayoor School, Noida conducted a special assembly to emphasise that good always prevails. The assembly commenced with the Junior School Choir singing prayers, followed by a short skit signifying the victory of good over evil. A graceful dance invoking the blessings of Goddess Durga, marked the culmination of the assembly.
Principal Ms. Alka Awasthi appreciated the efforts of the students and emphasized that this day is considered not only the victory of Lord Ram, but also the victory of mankind and told them that Super Heroes are not only found in mythological stories, and that each one of us is a super hero in his or her own way. She emphasised that if we are able to overcome the evil within us, then we can help make our society a better place to live in.

Mayoor School, Noida hosted a vibrant 'Dandiya Vibes' event, immersing students from Classes III, IV, and V in the joyful rhythms and traditions of Navratri. Decked in resplendent traditional attire, the children twirled with colourful dandiya sticks, their energy matching the pulsating Navratri beats. The event culminated in a delectable spread of Gujarati delicacies, adding a touch of culinary delight to the festivities.

In consonance with this adage, an Inter-House Obstacle Race was held for the students of Class-III. The students were excited to participate and overcame physical challenges in the form of obstacles that were spread across the school ground. The morning sets the day and the assembly paves the way for our students to refresh their spirits and unleash their creativity

Overwhelmed with pride and gratitude towards the National Anthem, students of classes XI F and G presented an engaging morning assembly on the theme, ‘Ek Subah Desh Ke Naam.’ The assembly commenced with the invocation of the Almighty, followed by national, international, sports and school news. Mesmerising dance performance enthralled the audience with their patriotic fervour and seamless moves. The highlight of the event was the skit that elaborated the significance of the lyrics of National Anthem with correct pronunciation. Students presented a melodious song that witnessed a harmonious synthesis of guitar, flute and chorus. All students wholeheartedly participated in the Inter House Quiz that reiterated the meaning and significance of the National Anthem.

Winners of various Inter School Competitions were awarded with trophies and certificates by the Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi. Appreciative of the outstanding performance made by the students and teachers, the Principal encouraged the youngsters to learn the corrections made and sing the anthem with great zeal and passion.

The students of XI D & E presented an assembly to celebrate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and elaborated upon the importance of social responsibility, titled - We are the World, and the World is Us, on 3 October 2023.
The assembly on Gandhiji's birth anniversary was a timely reminder of the importance of non-violence and compassion in our world today. They enacted two relevant situations, one where they can help educate the underprivileged and the other on conflict resolution in everyday life by practising non-violence. They marched with placards showing Gandhian philosophy and duties as responsible citizens. Students concluded the assembly by singing Ekla chalo re… by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore.
The young entrepreneurs of Mayoor launched a new product under tGELF JA Company of the Year 2023.

With an adaptor, electromagnet, metal strip, and iron nail in their hands, they grasped complex concepts effortlessly. As they meticulously assembled these components on a wooden block, they uncovered the intricate mechanics behind an electric bell's operation. This tangible experiment fostered a deeper understanding of electromagnetism and circuitry. By physically creating the bell, they not only grasped theoretical knowledge but also developed problem-solving skills and an enduring curiosity for science and technology. Assembly on Ethics and Integrity

Students of V C and D presented an engrossing morning assembly on the topic - Ethics and Integrity. They focused on how ethics can help students distinguish between right and wrong, and how staying committed to ethical principles can set a positive example for others.

The students performed a short and meaningful skit that emphasized the importance of these values in our lives. They also recited a beautiful poem and spoke about the festival of Raksha Bandhan, sharing interesting facts about its heritage and significance. The assembly concluded with a graceful dance by young Mayoorians. Principal Ms. Alka Awasthi appreciated the thoughtful topic of the assembly and reiterated that these values are integral in shaping young minds.

SCIENCE & INNOVATION

The Inter-House Science Competition was organised for the students of class III that celebrated their creativity and innovation in applying science in real life situations. This event fostered curiosity and scientific thinking leading to deeper understanding of science and our world. The experiments demonstrated were very interesting and engaging that kept the audiences captivated. The judges had a tough time deciding the winners.

Salil House bagged the first position, followed by Varun House and Krishanu House in second and third place, respectively. Principal Ms. Alka Awasthi, extolled the students for their efforts and reiterated the importance of scientific temperament and innovation.

No One is Perfect Yet All Are Special

The students of IV A and B presented an engaging assembly on the topic - No one is perfect where it was emphasized that everyone is different with their own unique qualities and all are special.  Assembly included  short skit , a song, a dance, a recitation, and an interview with a famous personality. Hard work, determination, and practice can transform all imperfection into perfection, and the skit showcased how people overcome their challenges and become famous.
Students who excelled in various Olympiads were felicitated by the Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi, and the Headmistress, Ms. Samira Menon. Principal Ma’am motivated the students and encouraged them to find their calling in life and put their heart and soul in it to achieve excellence.

The Inter-House Competition for class III, Weave – A - Tale, inspired by 2D and 3D Shapes in Mathematics, was held in the MP hall. It was a much awaited event, where participants from all five houses enthusiastically presented their creations. The atmosphere was electric as participants presented their models with conviction and clarity. The judges were impressed with the performances and had a tough time selecting the winners.

Raksha Bandhan, or Rakhi, is a special occasion to celebrate the bond of love between a brother and sister. To commemorate this festival, a Rakhi Making Activity was organized for the students of Class III on August 29th. The students made beautiful rakhis using different materials, such as silk threads, ribbons and embellishments. The students enjoyed the activity and had a lot of fun. They shared sweets with their teachers, friends, classmates, and helping staff as a token of their love and appreciation.

Cultivating Future Leaders: Mayoor School’s Scout and Guide Camp 2023

Soaked in the spirit of pride and patriotism, the students of Mayoor School, Noida celebrated the 77th Independence Day with great ardour.
The assembly showcased a vibrant display of talents by the enthusiastic students. Expressing their love and reverence for their country, the young Mayoorians enlivened the amphitheatre with a plethora of performances. An intriguing quiz, a mesmerizing dance, followed by melodious singing of ‘Saare Jaha se acha’ garnered huge applause. Filled with a feeling of national pride, students portrayed famous Indian personalities who played pivotal roles in shaping the nation's destiny. The ambience echoed with patriotic fervour as the students pledged to uphold the integrity, diversity and uniqueness of our country.

The students of the Primary Wing celebrated Independence Day with great patriotic fervour and fanfare. A special assembly was organized to spread awareness about the patriotic leaders and India’s 200-year freedom struggle.
The assembly commenced with an inspirational song followed by a scintillating instrumental performance and dance recital which filled the ambience with an aura of pride and patriotism. Addressing the students , Principal, Ms Alka Awasthi reiterated the significance of 15th August in our nation’s history. Students dressed up as Birsa Munda, Peer Ali Khan and Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay expressed their gratitude and paid tribute to the heroes of the freedom movement. A thought-provoking nukkad natak conveyed the true connotation of independence and urged everyone to inculcate progressive thoughts.
In continuation with the celebration, a plethora of activities were designed for the young Mayoorians to instill the spirit of Unity in Diversity in them. Unleashing their creativity, the young children, penned patriotic slogans on tri-coloured hands cut out and saluted the supreme sacrifices of the freedom fighters. The assembly concluded with the rendition of the National Anthem.

Mayoor Hosts the Screening of ‘The Saga of a Braveheart’

On 14 August 2023, the eve of India’s Independence Day, Mayoor School, Noida organised a special and memorable session, ‘Saluting a True Braveheart’, for paying tribute to Lt Col Ajit V. Bhandarkar, Shaurya Chakra recipient (Posthumous) who laid down his life fighting the Kashmiri terrorists for the defence of the Nation. The event was graced by Mrs. Shakuntala A. Bhandarkar, wife of Late Lt. Col. Bhandarkar and the author of the book, ‘The Saga of a Braveheart’, wherein she has chronicled the courage of her martyr husband and his supreme sacrifice.
Mrs. Anjali Karkare, general secretary of War Widows Association and wife of Late Capt. Ashok Kumar Karkare, Vir Chakra, along with Mrs. Pammi Bhardwaj, mother of Late Capt. Kanika Bhardwaj and Col. Subhendu Bose, a serving officer of the Army Air Defence Unit were also present at the  occasion. 
In harmony with the spirit of the day, the song and dance performances eulogising the sacrifice of our soldiers filled the ambience with patriotism and love for our nation whilst setting the stage for the screening of the documentary, ‘The Saga of a Braveheart- ‘It is Glory to Die Doing One’s Duty’, attesting the true story of courage, determination and supreme sacrifice. This was followed by the felicitation of the nominated student for the prestigious Lt. Col. Ajit V. Bhandarkar, Shaurya Chakra Award Scholarship.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi expressed her deep respect for the unparalleled bravery and supreme sacrifice of our soldiers and thanked Mrs. Bhandarkar and the other dignitaries for their gracious presence and enriching the Mayoorians with their insightful and inspiring speeches.

Aryabhatta Ganit Challenge

On Mayoor's academic stage, the 'Aryabhatta Ganit Challenge' illuminated young minds of grade VIII on August 10, 2023. This intersection event for Class VIII unfolded in two stages. In the preliminary round, all participants engaged in thought-provoking assessments, leading to the selection of the top 10 finalists. The ultimate round witnessed Anant Aggarwal of VIII D securing the 1st position, followed by Aarna Jain of VIII G in 2nd place, and Shiven Jain of VIII D securing the 3rd spot. 
Principal Ms Alka Awasthi extended her heartfelt congratulations to the victors and, with unwavering enthusiasm, urged them to transcend their achievements by excelling in the forthcoming CBSE Aryabhatta Ganit Challenge. Cyber Safety: Need of the Hour 

A captivating and engaging assembly was conducted by XI C & D on 8 August 2023. It began on a melodious note with a song and then the students presented an energetic Street Play on the importance of Cyber Safety. The thought-provoking storyline and immaculate dramatization clearly conveyed the perils of online money transactions and the problems of revealing a lot on social media. 

The students who brought laurels to the school were felicitated for their achievements in various Inter School Competitions.

One Child One Plant Campaign 

In an endeavour to commemorate the third anniversary of the National Education Policy, the students of Horticulture and Environment Club of the school took part in the ‘One Child One Plant’ campaign, proposed by CBSE. The campaign focused on promoting environmental conservation and sustainable practices. The students planted several plants like Mint ,Sada Bahar, Aloe Vera, Bamboo,Tulsi and many more.

Students of classes III - V observed Literary Week with an array of activities from 24th to 28th July 2023. This week is observed each year to ignite interest in reading, creative writing and hands-on activities. Children enjoyed amazing activities like book mark making, Drop Everything and Read, puzzle solving, and reviewing a book as it enhanced their creativity and language skills.
The activities were planned to hone different language skills like listening, speaking, decision making, analytical and abstract thinking. The week turned out to be an extremely engaging experience, as they learned while having fun. It also helped the children gain confidence with the exposure. 
 
Children happily talked about their favourite books and why they liked it, made interesting bookmarks, and also had a lively discussion on the origin of idioms. It was an excellent opportunity for the students to come together and appreciate the power of words and literature.
Principal Ms. Alka Awasthi reiterated the importance of enhancing language skills for effective communication.

Mayoor School Noida students joyously celebrated France's esteemed National Day, Bastille Day or Le Quatorze Juillet. Immersed in history, they presented a captivating 'French assembly' that transported the audience to the heart of France. The students' talents shone brightly as they enchanted with a charming French song and mesmerizing dance performance. The highlight was the splendid book launch of "Max la magnifique," authored by brilliant students Arna Jain and Adya Jain. The presence of Ms. Nidhi Kapoor, the esteemed headmistress, added distinction. It was an unforgettable celebration, etching treasured memories.

ASSEMBLY ON THE POWER OF EMPATHY

A captivating assembly was presented by students of IX A & B on 'The Power of Empathy'. The students eloquently highlighted the importance of understanding and sharing the feelings of others. Through engaging stories and interactive activities, they emphasized how empathy fosters compassion, builds connections, and promotes a harmonious society. The presentation left a lasting impression on the audience, inspiring everyone to embrace empathy in their daily lives.
The edifying assembly culminated with the pearls of wisdom by the Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi, who applauded the efforts of students and reiterated the fact that they must develop compassion for others to see the world from another person's perspective.

Inter-House Karate Competition: Cultivating Confidence and Courage

With an aim to inculcate discipline, fitness regimen and self-defence among the students, an Inter-House Karate Competition was held for the young learners of classes III to V.

The martial art event witnessed enthusiastic participation from boys and girls. In the girls’ category, the first position was bagged by Vasudha House whilst Varun and Salil house claimed the second and third positions respectively. In the boys’ category, Vasudha house maintained its distinction by securing the first position followed by Krishanu and Salil house in the second and third positions respectively.

Applauding the spirit of sportsmanship and zeal of the contesting students, Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi congratulated the winners and encouraged all to incorporate fitness activities in their schedule for improving their focus and perseverance.

Inter House Football Tournament: Display of Agility and Accord 

To encourage and develop teamwork, self-confidence with a wide range of motor skills, an Inter House Football Tournament was organised for the students of classes IV and V. 

Exhibiting spectacular sportsmanship and sprightliness, contesting girls and boys from all the sports houses participated actively in this tournament. Amber House got the first position followed by Krishanu and Vasudha House in the second and third positions in the boys’ category. Continuing its spirit to excel, Amber House retained the first position in the girls’ category while Vasudha and Krishanu House claimed the   second and third positions respectively.

Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi congratulated the winners and encouraged students to participate more in outdoor games and decrease the duration of screen time.

 

CELEBRATING LABOUR DAY

The students of classes III A & B conducted a special assembly to celebrate Labour Day and elaborated its meaning and importance. They honoured the workers for their contribution towards making our lives easy. The message about dignity of labour was illustrated by a relevant skit, role play with dresses and tools of different helpers along with song and dance performances. To convey their gratitude, children distributed sweets to the helping staff of the school. Headmistress Primary Block praised the students and reiterated that we must appreciate and express gratitude towards all.

SUBJECT ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES

Believing in the concept that learning with pleasure is equal to lifelong learning, Mayoor School, Noida organised various hands-on and fun activities in and outside the classrooms for children of class III. Students enjoyed the mix of group and individual subject enrichment activities and easily understood the concepts taught to them. It was a great learning experience.

SPECIAL ASSEMBLY BY CLASSES V A & B

A special assembly was conducted by the students of classes V A & B to celebrate Earth Day and Eid. The students presented a musical play highlighting the importance of greenery and sang a song promising to protect Mother Earth. Dressed in traditional clothes children danced and wished everyone on the occasion of Eid. Headmistress Primary wing, Ms. Samira Menon felicitated the winners of Gold Medals in various Olympiads and applauded the efforts of students and teachers in organising a thought provoking assembly. The programme concluded with children singing melodious earth day songs.

Mayoor School Noida takes a step towards a greener future with ICPE's Plastic Recycling Webinar

"Let's remember, plastic isn't the problem, it's our disposal practices that need improvement."

On May 11, 2023, Mayoor School collaborated with the Indian Centre for Plastics in the Environment (ICPE) to conduct a highly informative webinar entitled "Plastics and Recyclability" for students and teachers in classes VI to VIII. The objective of the webinar was to raise awareness about the various types of plastics, their uses, and the optimal disposal methods.

Ms. Poonam Gupta, the ICPE Project Head, conducted the discussion and persuaded the participants that using plastic is not inherently detrimental. Instead, insufficient waste management techniques are to blame for the issues. It was emphasised how important it is to organise a Mega Plastic Garbage Collection Drive in schools and how important it is to recycle plastic garbage.

The session was highly enlightening, and all attendees were provided with an insightful and comprehensive understanding of the complexities surrounding plastics and their responsible disposal. We are immensely proud to announce that all Mayoorians showed a great deal of enthusiasm and dedication to this noble cause, contributing a significant quantity of plastic waste to the Mega Plastic Waste Collection Drive.

Gandhi and Tagore: Walking Alone - Walking Together

The students of classes X-E and X-F presented an informative assembly on Tuesday, 9th May 2023 on the theme "Gandhi and Tagore: Walking Alone - Walking Together". The assembly started with positivity of the morning prayer and was followed by the news headlines and the thought of the day.  The students worked together as a team and presented a mélange of thoughts and expressions. A mesmerizing dance performance followed by a gripping band presentation, portrayed the magnificent personality attributes of the great personalities.
The well-designed assembly was taken over with a motivational address by Jaiaditya Dev, an alumnus of the school and a Lester B Pearson Scholarship holder, currently pursuing a B. Sc degree at the University of Toronto. During his interaction, he explained the importance of effective study skills as an essential component of academic success. The assembly concluded with the motivating words of Principal Ms. Alka Awasthi, who further encouraged the students to plan in advance, be punctual and honour their commitments.

Building Entrepreneur: Skill Development in India-Local to Global 

Our honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has rightly said, “Today, the youth of India have a wide range of opportunities and I hope India's youngsters harness these opportunities coming their way.”

In the light of the above vision and to motivate students consider entrepreneurship or self-employment as one of the career options, the Commerce Department organized an Inter House competition, ‘Building Entrepreneur: Skill Development in India- Local to Global - DELTA EXPORT’ for the students of class XII.

The event which aimed at educating the youth to meet local need and perform well on a global scale through the Skill India initiative, witnessed enthusiastic participation from all the contestants who presented their business ideas with a global approach. The first prize was bagged by Vasudha House whereas Varun and Amber House claimed the second and third prize respectively.

The series is based on the theme “Skill Development in India: From Local To Global wherein the learners showcased their linguistic as well as artistic skills. The students from all the wings participated wholeheartedly in activities ranging from essay writing, painting, and interactive discussions. The students were encouraged to express their thoughts on the topic ‘Kabaad Se Jugaad’ and demonstrate innovative approaches to promote local skills and create environment-friendly objects using waste material. The paintings created by the students exhibited their artistic prowess and deep imagination. The Principal, Ms Alka Awasthi appreciated the mission and accentuated the need to empower the students with adequate skill sets and improve productivity.

Based on the powerful phrase, a thought provoking assembly was staged by XII C & D. The assembly encompassed an  insightful skit, besides a musical recital  conveying a strong social message that responding meaningfully to the  current challenges require new ways of thinking & embracing the opportunities created by technological advances.
Furthermore, the session witnessed an awe-inspiring session with our alumnus Utsav Kaushal, currently pursuing Honours in Political Philosophy from Kings College, London wherein he  interacted with his  juniors, guiding them and motivating them to create opportunities ahead and remain rooted to our culture.

Goals on goals on goals! 

Join us as we celebrate an outstanding display of teamwork and sportsmanship at our inter-house soccer competition. With the coveted trophy at stake, the players gave it their all, and the energy on the field was contagious. 
From stunning strikes to masterful finishes, every goal was a true testament to their dedication and hard work. 
In the boy’s match a total of 54 players  participated while 46 female footballers played matches of  duration 12-5-12 minutes. The tournament was conducted on a Knock-out basis.

On Thursday, April 27, 2023, the grade VIII E and F conducted an assembly with the eminent Apostle, Swami Vivekananda’s quote "Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached" as the theme. The event started with seeking the Lord's blessings, followed by a thought, news, and an interpretation of the quote. The valedictory speech touched the hearts of everyone present. A book review enriched the young souls and a musical rendition accompanied by instruments added to the celebration. A skit and dance recital illuminated the theme, and the Quizzing Escapade was conducted to commemorate the birth anniversary of William Shakespeare.
Principal Ms Alka Awasthi’s inspiring speech motivated the students to push their limits and pursue excellence.
Overall, the event was successful in fostering Swami Vivekananda’s speech and left the students invigorated and jubilant.

In line with the constant endeavour of promoting holistic development among the Mayoorians,  students of classes X C and X D presented an edifying assembly on the topic, ‘Character and Success'. 
The well-designed assembly commenced with a motivating speech by Saarim Ahmed, an alumnus of the school and currently pursuing History Hons. from Delhi University. In his talk, he emphasised that character is one of the most important things in life and encouraged the students to cultivate virtuous traits like determination, diligence and focus for achieving happiness and success. Keeping with the theme of the assembly, the students depicted the lives of Cristiano Ronaldo, Marie Curie, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and Mithali Dorai Raj- all embodiments of integrity and strength.
Appreciating the earnest efforts of the students, Vice Principal, Ms. Sunita Dahiya urged the students to incorporate such good character traits in our lives.

"Mayoor's Inter House Badminton: Where sportsmanship meets skill!"

"Mayoor's Inter House Badminton Competition for students in grades VI-VIII was a display of true sportsmanship! It was inspiring to see our young athletes give their all, competing with fairness and respect towards their opponents. Every point was hard-fought, and every game was a testament to the dedication and skill of our participants. 
• In the boy’s inter house  competition a total of 20 players participated and matches were played of best of three sets with 21 point in a set to win. The tournament was conducted on a Knock-out basis.
• In girl’s inter-house competition a total of 19 players participated and matches were played with similar rules and regulation and this event was also conducted on Knock-out basis

TRIP TO KIDZANIA

An experience for little heroes, where learning ignites the  mind, sparks imagination and inspires real - world exploration. The little learners of Grade I and II went for a fun experience to the Theme Amusement Park.
They  engaged in  role-play and enjoyed being a doctor, firefighter, pilot, journalist, chef, RJ and more. Through simulation, they gained knowledge and acquired skills needed  for various professions. 
 The exciting and unique exposure was thoroughly enjoyed by the little Mayoorians.

Spreading Awareness through Creative Expression

To reinforce the importance of a wholesome diet for good health and nutrition, the Hindi Department organized an Inter Section Poster Making competition for the students of classes IX and X  on the topic, ‘Poshtik Aahar Swasth Jeevan ka Aadhar’. 
The artistic activity which aimed at accentuating the benefits of eating healthy witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students. Rushda Anwar (X-B) and Gunnika Dewan (IX-A) bagged the first position followed by Mishka Milan Singh (X-G) and Zia Zehra(IX-D) in the second position. Ayesha Hasan (X-F) and Bhavya Sharma (IX-B) claimed the third position in the keenly contested competition.
Motivating the students to adhere to a healthy lifestyle, Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi applauded the efforts aligned with creativity of the participants.

Rallying for a Greener Future: Students Unite for Earth Day

Our students from grade VI organized a rally to raise awareness about the importance of preserving the planet. Armed with placards bearing slogans to save the earth, they sensitized their peers and teachers to the pressing need to protect the environment. In light of the above thought, the students of classes XII A and B staged an assembly on the topic, ‘We are our choices’ accentuating the importance of making the right choice. The assembly encompassed an insightful skit conveying the message that everything in life reflects the choices one makes. Furthermore, the event witnessed an inspiring session with our alumnus Anukriti Sachan, currently pursuing BSc. Honours in Computer Science from Northumbria University, United Kingdom, wherein she interacted with her juniors, guiding them through the admission process and profile building for securing admission in prestigious universities in India and abroad.
Applauding the presentation, Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi echoed that life is indeed a series of choices that we make every day, therefore we must make the right choices.

UNITED WE STAND

With hearts full of vigour and festive cheer for Baisakhi, and to commemorate the memory of Chief architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr BR Ambedkar, the students of Class VIII A and VIII B presented a well-thought assembly in the school amphitheatre. The students presented a skit highlighting the vision and values upheld by the stalwart Babasaheb, and also kindled the spirit of diversity, brotherhood, and belongingness. This was followed by a brief introductory session of students who have recently joined the loving family at Mayoor. 
Applauding the enthusiasm and honest efforts of students, Principal, Ms Alka Awasthi, reiterated the need for each Mayoorian to stay united towards a collective dream of scaling greater heights.

Manifesting Positivity

To herald the beginning of the new academic session with renewed energy and positive mindset, a special assembly was conducted by students of Class X-A and X-B on 'Manifesting Positivity'. The assembly proved pivotal by creating an ice-breaking session for the new admission students who have joined the Mayoor family. Inspirational and motivating presentations highlighting the importance of positivity in one's life and ways to manifest nurturing thoughts. 
Upholding the tradition of commencing the assembly with a prayer song, the choir sang a harmonious hymn, creating a serene atmosphere. This was followed by synchronous display of yoga poses and a meaningful skit demonstrating the need for upholding a positive attitude towards learning while staying committed and maintaining a sense of self-discipline. A mesmerizing musical performance left the entire assemblage enthralled.
Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi, welcomed the new students into the secure folds of the Mayoor family and motivated all to aim higher with persistent and positive efforts.

Inter House T-Shirt Painting Competition

Revisiting Ecology through Visual Pathways

Children are naturally creative. It’s our job to give them freedom, material and space to let their creativity blossom to its full potential. To unleash the creative faculties of students through art in education, an Inter House T-shirt painting activity was organized on the topic ‘Deforestation’.
Participants came up with brilliant ideas and exhibited exemplary creativity through artistic blend of colours and informative messages to save the environment by constructive preservation of resources. The artistic endeavour witnessed Vasudha house claiming the First position, Amber house bagging the Second position and the Third position secured by Varun house. Amidst much jubilation, Principal Ms Alka Awasthi congratulated all worthy winners and reminded Mayoorians to hone their diverse abilities and be instrumental in paving the way for a cleaner and safer environment.

 

Attracting Greatness through Gratefulness

It is rightly said that gratitude nourishes and strengthens every one it touches. It is not the joy that makes us grateful, it is gratitude that makes us joyful. In keeping with the above thought, the students of Class VI C and VI D conducted a beautiful assembly on the topic ‘Grateful Heart’ to highlight the magnificence that a grateful heart is; turning what we have into enough.
The assembly commenced with a calming prayer to thank the Almighty for His benevolence, followed by a meaningful presentation demonstrating the importance of having a grateful heart. The melodious choir sang a mesmerizing recital motivating the students to be thankful for every blessing they have in life. Carrying forward the theme, a heart-touching dance performance and recitation of self-composed poem brightened everyone’s day with a reminder that a grateful heart is the beginning of greatness.
Principal, Ms Alka Awasthi, appreciated the honest efforts of students in presenting a well-thought assembly and reminded every Mayoorian to develop an attitude of gratitude and give thanks for everything that happens to you. Head Mistress Ms Nidhi Kapoor, while addressing the assembly, reiterated that a grateful heart is a magnet for miracles, and one should always count their blessings.

Remembering Ramanujan: Mayoor Celebrates Maths Week

To commemorate the birth anniversary of the great Indian mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan, the Mathematics department of Mayoor School, Noida celebrated Maths Week with great gusto and zest from 21 December to 23 December 2022.

An array of exciting activities like Maths Bola, Math-a-Music, Poster making, to name a few, were organised for the students of classes III to XI. The well-designed activities facilitated the learners to develop computational skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills while discovering the manifestation of Mathematics around us. Furthermore, a motivational movie based on the life of Ramanujan was screened for the students to ignite in them a passion for unraveling the myriad mystics of Mathematics.

Echoing the importance of Mathematics, Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi thanked the teachers and students for the wonderful celebration to inspire, enthuse, and inculcate a positive attitude towards learning Mathematics among the younger generation.

Merry Christmas

“Christmas is forever, not for just one day. For loving, sharing and giving, are not to put away.”
The month of December brings a lot of warmth, hope and joy. To spread the message of love, the children of classes III G & H presented a spectacular assembly on 23rd December 2022 on the occasion of the world’s most loved and celebrated festival, Christmas. The assembly commenced with invoking the blessings of the Almighty, followed by an insightful thought, news update and a melodious Christmas carol. To spread the message of compassion and the joy of giving, an accentuating skit was presented by the young Mayoorians. The melodious singers of grade three recited a self-composed poem conveying the significance & meaning of Christmas. And as Christmas wouldn’t be complete until we dance our heart out, the energetic young dancers created a euphoric moment with the entry of the lovable Santa Claus and a lively dance performance.
Applauding the students and their mentors for staging such a stunning assembly, Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi reiterated the lessons of life we learn from the festival of Christmas and urged the students to live by and promote these timeless values in society.

Inter House Commerce Quiz

Commerce changes the fate and genius of nations.                                                               
With an aim to assess the financial literacy skills of the young learners, the Commerce Department of Mayoor School, Noida organized an Inter House Commerce Quiz for the students of classes IX and XI. Designed to elevate the interest of the students in Commerce and enhance their knowledge about the subject in a fun and educative way, the quiz witnessed enthusiastic participants answer questions based on Current Affairs, Logos, Famous Indian Personalities, Banking, Information Technology, etc. with élan and confidence.
Priyanshi Singh (IX) and Yash Bhargav (XI) of Salil House won the first prize followed by Ekaksh Anchal (IX) and Ayush Aggarwal (XI) of Varun House in the second position. The third prize was claimed by Abhaay Shekhar (IX) and Pranav Thareja (XI) of Amber House. 
Congratulating the winners for their brilliant performance, Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi reiterated the importance of Commerce education in the contemporary world for tackling problems in different functional areas of commerce, industry, and trade.

Python Programming Competition

In keeping with the need to learn Programming Languages-a prerequisite in today’s digital age, the Computer Department of Mayoor School, Noida organised an Inter-House Python Programming competition for the students of classes IX and XI for providing them a platform to showcase their programming talent and hone their skill-sets.
Participating with great enthusiasm, all the contestants created innovative projects using Python Programming languages like Event-driven programming, Mayoor Mart software, Application development, etc.
Amidst a keenly contested competition, Ishaan of Krishanu house bagged the first position followed by Medhansh Kapoor of Varun house and Vedant Gupta of Salil house in the second and third positions respectively in the class IX category. Furthermore, in class XI, the first position was bagged by Aditya Singhal of Amber house whereas Dhruvam Wason of Salil house claimed the second position followed by Rushil Goyal of Vasudha house in the third position.
Congratulating the winners, Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi echoed the importance of learning programming languages in today’s technology driven world.

Stand up for what is right

In constant endeavour to create a safe environment where the students grow socially and emotionally, an array of events for the students of Middle wing were conducted in the school premises. Keeping ‘NO BULLYING NOVEMBER’ as the theme, wall magazines were creatively displayed by the students of classes VI to VIII to spread awareness against the acts of bullying. The students presented a thought-provoking street play on the affects of bullying on mental health of the victim and constructive ways to prevent it. In cognizance with the efforts to inculcate the values of compassion and empathy among the students, ‘WOW CLASS OF THE MONTH’ was also announced. Furthermore, the school counsellor Ms. Srishti held an insightful session to enlighten Mayoorians on the relevance of happy spaces and ways to cope with bullying. Principal, Ms Alka Awasthi, applauded the efforts of the students to raise awareness and reiterated the need to curb the menace of bullying by motivating them to stand against any and all acts of bullying with a promise to create a positive and enriching environment at school.

Mayoor Upvan Traffic  Park 

A miniature road traffic park  was created  complete with  traffic signal, road signs, crossings and even a live traffic cop. Children's joy knew no bounds, when they were asked to navigate  toy cars and bikes according to the traffic laws in the spectacular creation. Water and air transport was also discussed with them.

The activity  educated them about the the road safety norms in a practical hands- on manner. It also helped to propagate road safety culture in the young minds with fun filled adventure enroute.

 

Towards a Dengue-free Future

Mayoor School Noida strongly supports awareness-raising and health promotion strategies across all levels to create an environment driven by proactive and solutions-based approach. After all, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. In light of the same, Mayoorians from Middle wing launched a special Dengue Awareness Rally to combat the fatal disease with educative awareness. Students and staff participated enthusiastically, banding together to fight the dread of dengue. To educate the students about dengue and its prevention, a special rally was called to start in order to promote the idea that dengue can be defeated.  Slogans were raised and educational leaflets were distributed to instructors and volunteers. Teachers provided valuable information on breeding grounds and also instructed the learners to check for any water stagnation in the immediate region. Additionally. The attendees were inspired and filled with a lot of energy by this rally.

Principal, Ms Alka Awasthi, praised the students for their enthusiasm and hard work in organizing a successful rally. She informed the students that in view of the prevalence of dengue, the school undertakes regular fumigation of premises. However, for added protection, preventive measures including application of mosquito repellent on exposed body parts and wearing mosquito repellent patches on school uniform were also suggested.

An Ode to Mothers 

The students of VII C and VII D of Mayoor School, Noida awakened everyone with an exigent call by conducting a well-thought Class Assembly on the topic – Thank you Universe – a tribute to all mothers. The presentation aimed at igniting sensitivity towards the innumerable facets of mothers and their indispensable role in shaping lives. The emotional assembly was planned with meticulous care, including an ode sung for mothers and a skit signalling the dire need to celebrate mothers and their selflessness to arouse consciousness among students.
Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi, congratulated the participants for putting up an assembly that tug at hearts of all and enlightened the assemblage to walk on the right path of courteousness towards all elders.

The Magic of Numbers

“Life is a Math Equation. In order to gain the most, you have to know how to convert negatives into positives.”

In order to develop Mathematical curiosity and instil a spirit of competitiveness and teamwork among students through play method, Inter Section Maths Relay was organized for Classes VI – VIII. It allowed learners to analyse how well they understand the subject and correlate the theoretical knowledge with its practical application in real life. The winners successfully demonstrated promptness, mental and reasoning abilities. Team 5 comprising Akshaj Mishra (VI-F), Arjun Chauhan (VII-F) and Aarav Aggarwal (VIII-F) were the proud winners of the competition with Team 3 Lakshya Goyal (VI-B), Aadi Chauhan (VII-B) and Shiv Jhunjhunwala (VIII-B) bagged the 2nd position. Nabiha Khan (VI-I), Suhani Manocha (VII-I) and Shanay Singh Rawat (VIII-I) brought Team 2  to the 3rd position.

To boost the morale, Principal, Ms Alka Awasthi appreciated the efforts put in by the students in making the event a great success and motivated them to partake in such thrilling and spirited contests and hone their skills.

INTER HOUSE MATHS QUIZ - CLASSES IV & V

“Mathematics is not about numbers, equations, computations and algorithms: it is about understanding”. 

As a part of extended learning, Mayoor School, Noida organized an Inter House Math Quiz Competition for classes IV & V. Three students from each house participated in the quiz which comprised of four rounds: Follow the Trail, Puzzle round, Rapid Fire and Fraction Fun. The first prize was bagged by Adeeb Farooqui, Aadya Singhal and Arghya Srivastava of Amber House. Atharv Garg, Saanchi Gupta and Malhar Ghosh of Varun House bagged the second position. 

Principal, Ms Alka Awasthi addressed and encouraged the participants with her inspiring words. The quiz enhanced the inquisitiveness of the students thereby building confidence and mental prowess.

 

Say no to Single Use Plastic

We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children!

In coherence with the above thought and considering their due responsibility towards protecting the environment, our young students of Class - III E organised a special assembly to create awareness among their fellow mates to restrict the use of poly bags.

The assembly commenced with a soothing prayer, an enriching thought of the day followed by International, National and Mayoor news. Through an enthralling dance performance, Street play, and mime act the little ones emphasized on the dangers associated and urged everyone to stop using plastic items.
The educative assembly  successfully etched an important message in the minds of students as they pledged to join hands to save the planet from the Plastic Monster. Reiterating the message, ‘Save our world, save our future, Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi applauded the students' efforts to raise awareness and empower citizens to help curb the plastic menace.

Inter House Weave a Tale Competition- Class III

Stories give wings to our imagination and take us to places beyond the boundaries of physical world.
 
With an aim to nurture every child's potential and develop their personal excellence, the Maths Department of Mayoor School, Noida organised an Inter-House Weave a Tale Competition for the students of Class III. The competition which was based on weaving stories using different shapes witnessed all the teams, wrapped in enthusiasm and vigour, participate keenly and express their creativity and ingenuity. The participants presented some versatile stories using various shapes, explaining their features and weaving interesting tales that entertained the audience and received numerous applauses. A seamless synthesis of artistry and brilliance, the exciting event facilitated and enabled students to deliver a perfect amalgamation of eloquence and craftsmanship.
Amaya Bhargava of III-D secured the First Position whereas Vachi Kapoor of III-G secured the Second Position followed by Darsh Milan Singh of III-C securing the Third Position.

Inter Section Poster Making competition

In coherence with its constant endeavour to inculcate a passion for learning languages in the learners and hone their creativity, the Hindi Department of Mayoor School, Noida organized an Inter Section Poster Making competition for the students of classes IX and X.

The competition witnessed an enthusiastic participation from the contestants who unleashed their artistic skills and aptitude on thought-provoking topics viz.,’Pustaken Hamari Sachchi Mitr, Audyogikaran aur Paryawaran and Mobile Phone aur Vidyarthi’ and displayed their creative expression integrated with knowledge and created awareness regarding vital contemporary trends and community concerns.  

Amidst a keen contest, Bushra Nafees of IX-C and Ojal Bisla of X-C bagged the first positions followed by Ayesha of IX-F and Zaina Ahmed of X-E in the second positions. Kashvi Agarwal of IX-A and Inayah Ahmed of X-F were declared claimants of the third positions.

Diwali celebration at Mayoor

‘Let us elevate our souls darkness to light’

The exhilaration and celebratory spirit that Diwali brings is incredible. To add to the festive fervour, students of classes V D and E presented a special assembly on the festival of Lights. The assembly commenced with a significant prayer invoking God’s blessings. The reason to celebrate Diwali was elucidated by a skit which also included a classical dance presentation. The students zealously decorated the amphitheatre in vibrant hues with rangoli colours and flowers. The venue sparkled with divine ambience of mystical diyas which was further heightened by a bhajan performance highlighting victory of light over darkness and hope over despair. Students emphasized on pledging for a cracker free Diwali and taking care of Mother Earth during the festivities. The assembly concluded with profound words by the Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi sending message of a peaceful and bright Diwali. She reiterated the essence of celebrating green Diwali.

Mayoor School Noida gives a seamless platform to the students to showcase their linguistic prowess and unleash their creativity. Students of Class IV got an opportunity to take part in Inter-House English Extempore. Students participated in the event with great zeal and enthusiasm. Setting the Stage for Sustainability

Innovative pedagogical transformation is at the core of our school’s academic structure. Taking the children away from routine methods of research and learning is one of the prerequisites of modern education system. To this effect, we incorporate Drama in subjects like Science to improve communication skills, stimulate imagination of the students and give learners a better understanding of human behaviour and situations. It allows them to learn better morals and to speak up for what’s right. To reaffirm these skills in Mayoorians, an Inter Section Skit Competition was organized for Class VIII, wherein the students depicted the three important aspects of SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and infrastructure. Students presented instructive and evocative skits to address challenges and ways to build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation. Students of Class VIII B and E claimed the First position. Teams representing VIII G and A secured the Second position, while the Third position was bagged by VIII D and H.
Principal, Ms Alka Awasthi, congratulated the students for their enthusiastic participation and suggested constructive ways to follow up on sustainability as a way of living.

MINDWARS QUIZ- A QUIZZING ESCAPADE

To cater to the academic requirements of Gen Z, it is imperative to break away from traditional learning structures to introduce elements which are fun and enriching. Quizzes help students to learn by involving retrieval practice wherein students think back previously learnt information and engage in a fun-filled experience. Mayoor School Noida, in cognizance of this believe, provided an amazing opportunity to students of classes VI to IX to participate in Mindwars Quiz in the school premises.
The quiz, split into various interesting rounds including questions from Current affairs, General Knowledge and Curriculum, was hosted by the Quizmaster Mohd. Samir Alam from Mindwars, a subunit of Zee TV. Team comprising Ekaksh Anchal of Class IX and Aarna Jain of Class VII bagged the First prize. The proud winners would receive cash vouchers from Mindwars. Certificates of Merit were awarded to all the six teams who qualified for the stage rounds, including Audience Prizes to many meritorious students, making the experience thoroughly enjoyable and informative.
 Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi, congratulated the winning team and all the participants, and reiterated the need for students to be well-informed about their immediate surroundings.

Mayoorian Deliberates on Global Agenda at National Forum

In continuum of programmes to develop students with insightful-acumen, Mayoor School participated in an interactive session organised by Edu TV wherein prestigious schools all across the nation joined in presenting views over recent appointment of Mr Rishi Sunak as British Prime Minister. Abhiraj Sengupta of Class XII enthusiastically contributed his ideas during the enriching session. Principal Ms. Alka Awasthi appreciated the platform that gave an impressive opportunity to the young students to enhance their perceptive knowledge with deliberation over global issues.

In sync with that view, with unabated curiosity and armed with confidence, Mayoorians of Class VI battled it out in a one-of-its-kind Inter House MATHSBOLA Quiz. The quiz was interspersed with mathematics questions and a touch of the famous Tambola game, making the experience thoroughly enjoyable and enriching for the participants. Lakshya Goel and Svanik Maharatha of VI B bagged the First position, while Second position was claimed by Taarian Kaur and Rudresh Malakar of VI G. Akshaj Mishra and Khush Garg of VI F stood at Third position.

MAKING SCIENTIFIC TEMPER A WAY OF LIFE

Mayoor School Noida strongly believes in promoting scientific temperament among its students to bring forth a progressive society. Endorsing the same vision, Mayoorians of class VII and VIII were extended the golden opportunity to visit a compelling exhibition organized by ISpA (Indian Space Association) at Manekshaw Centre, Delhi Cantt. 

The exhibition intended to bring upcoming missions and innovative satellites to the cognizance of the new generation by allowing students a fundamental understanding of fascinating satellites, which were made by their own hands, was incentivizing for the students. The event highlighted Domestic Space Capabilities and homegrown state-of-the-art technologies, giving a much-needed clarity of purpose to our future scientists in the making.

The Conclave witnessed the coming together of different Government, Private Industry, and Academia stakeholders to share their valuable insights during panel discussions for strategic impact. Students gained invaluable experience and were sensitized towards the tireless efforts put in to improve the country’s space capabilities in order for it to become a global space leader. 

Principal, Ms Alka Awasthi, was overwhelmed to see the insights gained by the students from the exhibition and encouraged them to carry forth the flame of inquisitiveness and curiosity, a requisite for a future-ready generation.

Let there be Light

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that."

It was an atmosphere of religious zeal and festivities galore when the students of VIII C and D presented their special assembly bringing the festival of lights alive through the theme 'Illuminating the Divine Light Within'. The assemblage of jubilant students adorning traditional attire spread Diwali cheer and reminded all that it is not just a festival; it is a celebration of hope. 

The gala assembly commenced with a joyful and rhythmic dance performance setting the mood of festivity that won the hearts of all present. The students showcased a musical play based on Ramayana, highlighting the significant life lessons of the triumph of good over evil, hope over despair and awareness over ignorance. The enthralled audience was reminded that this special festival teaches us to focus on the good, invite positivity, give with an open heart, practice patience and embrace change. To add to the rhythmic effervescence of the atmosphere, a beautiful poem was recited by students emphasizing the need to be compassionate, virtuous and responsible citizens. 

Principal, Ms Alka Awasthi, congratulated the students for presenting a thoroughly entertaining and informative assembly and entreated all to find the light within and be a better version of themselves. 

Honing Skills the Right Way

Acceptance and recognition are instrumental in improving one’s confidence when directed through correct mannerisms and traits meant to develop the overall personality. Mayoor School Noida envisions each student to be a goal-oriented and self-assured citizen and ensures that they are educated on the significance of body language and soft skills to hone themselves. The idea was reiterated through an interactive session conducted in school on positive habits, anger management, mood control and sensitivity. Storytelling method was employed to apprise learners about time management, appropriate expression and the need for empathy in all. Students reflected on their learning and tried to design a timetable for themselves to maximize their daily productivity with focus on attainment of goals and overcoming stress.

Furthermore, a live session was conducted on grooming and table manners, wherein the usage of cutlery, laying and arranging the table in a formal and informal setting, and the significance of professional and informal dressing was taught to the enthusiastic learners. The collective aim of all the activities and tutorials was to motivate students towards cultivating an outgoing personality, thereby ensuring improvement in their academic performance as well as boosting their confidence, which goes a long way in increasing their chances of success in life.

Principal, Ms Alka Awasthi, congratulated the students for their passionate participation and encouraged them to share their new learnings with others to help make the world a better place.

tGELF Youth Entrepreneur Team Presents ‘Elea Aroma Essence’

On 8 October 2022, tGELF Youth Entrepreneur team had set up a stall displaying their enterprising product, ‘Elea Aroma Essence’ in two fragrances, Floral Blush and Citrus Punch made from essential oils extracted naturally from flowers and plants and packaged in bottles of 100 ml, 50 ml and 5ml.

At the launch, sample bottles of both the aromas were prepared with 50ml of rose and lemon each and the team reached out to as many people as they could to promote their product by accentuating its goodness and authenticity.

Both the variants, Floral Blush which is an aromatic blend of rose, jasmine and lavender diffused by coconut oil and the tangy essence of Citrus Punch which exudes a seamless synergy of lemongrass, lemon and eucalyptus blended with coconut oil were highly appreciated by the parents and teachers and the team received orders in large quantities for the same which was the objective of the initiative. Furthermore, all the bottles displayed during the exhibition got sold out and the enterprise also received donations as a gesture of encouragement.

Principal, Alka Awasthi appreciated the endeavour of the students and wished them success in their inventive venture.

MENTAL HEALTH DAY @ MAYOOR

Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.

To commemorate the World Mental Health Day observed on 10 October across the globe for raising awareness about mental health issues, Mayoor School, Noida celebrated the significant day on this year’s theme, ‘Make mental health for all a global priority’ with great gusto and facilitated to mobilize efforts in support of mental health.
Today we live in turbulent times and the well-being of mental health is not only relevant but crucial. Experiencing feelings of helplessness, isolation, grief, anxiety and depression is escalating and demand for health support services has increased exponentially as a result. However, the societal stigma associated with mental health prevents people from accepting issues concerning mental health and well-being as problem which aggravates the situation leading to a total lack of awareness and sensitivity about the problem in our society.
Aimed at disseminating the need of the well-being of the mental health- a fundamental human right, the Psychology department organised insightful activities to prioritize our own mental health and rekindle our efforts to make this world a better place to live in. Accentuating the necessity of availing care and treatment in distress, Mayoorians pledged working towards the well-being of all for a better global lifestyle.
Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi reiterated the importance of holistic health in our lives and urged all to create awareness regarding the well-being of mental health.

GOOD ALWAYS WINS – Special Assembly on Dussehra 

No matter how hard Evil tries, it can never quite match up to the power of Good, because Evil is ultimately self-destructive. 
In keeping with the above adage, the students of class VI A & B of Mayoor School, Noida presented an insightful assembly to celebrate the spirit of Dussehra, the victory of good over evil, on 27th September 2022.
To mark the auspiciousness of the celebration, the assembly commenced with a prayer invoking the blessings of the Almighty. Coherent with the theme of the assembly, an inspiring song was presented, followed  by a splendid dance performance and a Mime Act that encouraged the assemblage to follow the path of truth and righteousness. 
Applauding the efforts of the students, Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi, reiterated the need for all to follow the righteous path, and never resort to any wrong practices. The event was a humble reminder to delete the negative and accentuate the positive.

CLEAN AND GREEN MAKES PERFECT SCENE

Cleanliness and good health are integral to the growth of a country. 
The very essence and relevance of this thought was beautifully depicted by the students of Class VII A and VII B through the class assembly conducted on 20 September 2022. The well-thought presentation commenced with instrumentalists playing the soulful tunes of ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ on their guitars and clap box, reminding the assemblage of Mahatma Gandhi’s favourite hymn and his global appeal for maintaining cleanliness. This was followed by an expressive presentation of Nukkad Natak on ‘Swachhta’ reiterating the need to keep one’s surroundings clean. The assembly ended with a soul-stirring song on ‘Nutrition’ to bring in more fun and enjoyment. 
The assembly garnered appreciation from Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi, for choosing a topic that sensitises all towards keeping their immediate surroundings clean for a healthier life.

Savoury MOMents with Mom 

Savoury MOMents with Mom activity was aimed at spreading awareness about nutrition amongst children. It brought the  mother-child duo together to  conjure up a healthy dish without fire.The entire culinary process tickled their senses and was a delicious and satisfying learning experience for the  sprouting chefs .

SWEAT NOW, SHINE LATER

A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.
In sync with the above thought, the students of VIII A and B of Mayoor School, Noida presented an assembly on the topic ‘Sweat Now Shine Later’ demonstrating their unwavering belief in hard work and persistence. 
The assembly which commenced with a soothing prayer to invoke the Almighty’s blessings created a pious and positive ambience and was followed by International, National, and Mayoor news. Illustrating the theme of the assembly, the participating students delivered an inspiring thought of the day and an optimistic poetic composition. An insightful skit interspersed with mesmerising musical and dance performances echoed the message that success can be accomplished only with sheer determination, hard work, and self-belief. 
Applauding the students and their mentors for staging such a motivating assembly, Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi reiterated that we can achieve our goals through diligence, determination and discipline.

Janmashtami Celebration at Mayoor

A festival gives you a rainbow for the storm, a smile for every tear, a promise for every care, and an answer to every prayer. 
To celebrate the occasion of the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, the students of class III C of Mayoor School, Noida presented a spectacular assembly depicting the birth and teachings of Lord Krishna. 
Encapsulating the essence of Janmashtami, the special assembly commenced with a soothing prayer followed by International, National and Mayoor news. A popular shloka from the Bhagavad Gita recited as the thought of the day filled the ambience with piety and positivity. The little Mayoorians staged an enthralling skit and a couple of mesmerizing dance performances accentuating the splendor of the celebration observed with pomp and gaiety all over India. 
Emphasizing on the significance of festivals in our lives, Principal Alka Awasthi applauded the earnest efforts of the students guided by their mentors and thanked them for the amazing assembly.

Har Ghar Tiranga

To invoke the spirit of patriotism and commemorate the 75th year of India's independence as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration, Mayoor School, Noida participated in an INTER SCHOOL RALLY initiated by the Government of India and ITBP on 10th August 2022, as part of the HAR GHAR TIRANGA.
More than 150 students from Classes IX and XI took part in the rally emphasising the significance of Tiranga as a symbol of unity, sovereignty, and the contribution of our freedom fighters to India's struggle for independence.

The rally was flagged off in the presence of Commandant Ajay Singh, Principal Ms. Alka Awasthi, Ms. Niharika Singh from the Ministry of External Affairs and more than 25 other personnel from ITBP. The Commandant was happy at the enthusiasm and energy of young Mayoorians who marched carrying the tricolour, chanting slogans of 'Har Ghar Tiranga' and handed over the flag to the  neighbouring School for the spirit to continue.

Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi commended the students for enthusiastically uniting to celebrate and honour the nation, urged them to draw inspiration from our national heroes and to inculcate qualities for becoming good citizens of India.

#Alumni Talk #2.0

Mayoor School, Noida organised an Alumni Talk on 22 and 25 July 2022 for the benefit of the senior secondary students to guide them in choosing the correct career aided by precise   time-management. 
The key speakers of the event were Deeptansh Sharma, Harshita Sharma, Jaiditya Dev and Ruturaj Pathak. The visiting alumni addressed the students regarding the careers options available in different streams after class XII. They also mentioned about the skills required in their career domains and how to harness those skills set. Harshita and Jaiditya who are currently pursuing their chosen careers from prestigious universities in US explained how perseverance, patience with dedication can lead to success. Accentuating the challenges of different career options and ways to resolve them, Deeptansh and Ruturaj emphasized on the importance of managing the time well. 
The interactive session witnessed the alumni sharing their experience while answering questions asked by their juniors. It was indeed an emotional moment when all four of them thanked their alma mater for all that they have aspired and achieved.
Applauding the ex-Mayoorians for their stupendous success, Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi wanted alumni to guide the Mayoorians well about their choice of career and blessed them for their future endeavours.

Mayoorian Speaks…

Moksh Pathak of 2020 batch, pursuing CS Engineering from NIT Rourkela, held an inspiring  session with his juniors on 8th July. Moksh is a research associate on a prestigious project in IIT Delhi during his summer break. Students interacted with him and inundated him with a lot of questions pertaining to his preparation for the board and competitive exam at the same time. He elaborated upon all the guidance and help that he received from school in his journey of realising his dream. 
Principal Ms. Alka Awasthi, praised him for his achievements and blessed him for all his future endeavours.

Inter-House Aashubhashan Pratiyogita 

An Inter-House ‘Aashubhashan Pratiyogita’ was organized by the Hindi department for the students of classes IX and X for providing them a platform to showcase their creativity and oratory skills.
Participating with full excitement and enthusiasm, all the participants displayed commendable eloquence and beguiled the audience. The first position was bagged by Salil House followed by Varun and Krishanu Houses in the second and third positions respectively.
Expounding the significance of activities that promote the confidence and the coherence of the students, Principal, Ms Alka Awasthi applauded the winners.

Inter-House Aashubhashan Competition

An Inter-House ‘Aashubhashan Competition’ was organized by the Hindi department for the students of classes VI to VIII for providing them a platform to showcase their creativity and coherence.

All the participants delivered their speeches with great confidence and articulation and were judged based on content, fluency, voice modulation and presentation. The First position was bagged by Medhavi Saxena (VIII- I) and Gunnika Dewan (VIII- G) of Varun House followed by Krishanu House represented by Pratyush Dwivedi (VIII –A) and Vanya Agarwal (VII- A). The third Position was secured by Diva Sharma (VII –B) and Dakshaya Iyer (VIII-B) of Amber House.

Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi applauded the fervour and poise of the contestants and reiterated the nuances of the great art of public speaking.

 

Pitter Patter Pool Party 

Mayoor School, Noida, organized a 'Pitter Patter Pool Party’ for Class 1 and 2 on Friday, 20th  May 2022. The sunny summer day was thoroughly enjoyed by our champs as they got a chance to beat the heat with the soothing coolness of the splash pool which  was abundantly decorated with balloons, balls and buntings. The excited children turned up in their colourful attire and had a splashing time. The fun continued as they posed for  pictures to be treasured as beautiful memories. An amazing kick start of the Summer Vacations!

Splish Splash ....it's a Hawaiian Bash !!! 

The little Mayoorians had the most exciting Hawaiian-themed party with a tropical twist. The  summer party was bursting with colours, fun games, tasty treats and  limbo beats.  It was a feast to see the tiny tots dressed up in their favorite Aloha attire. They had a splashing time in the pool  and lots of fun in the hot summer sun!

Every State Tells a Tale

The Social- Science department of Mayoor School, Noida organized an Inter-House Enactment Competition on the topic, ‘Every State Tells a Tale’ for the students of class VI on 29 April 2022.
Displaying a deep understanding of the unique and diverse culture of our country, the participants presented the topography, festivals, food, famous historical places and economy of different Indian states with excitement and eloquence. 
The First position was bagged by Salil House who represented the state of Rajasthan whereas Krishanu House who depicted the state of Goa claimed the Second position. The Third position was bagged by Amber House for showcasing the state of West Bengal.
Appreciating the efforts of all the participants, Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi, congratulated the winners and encouraged the students for participating in such animated activities.

Inter House Science Competition on SDGs

With an aim to create awareness about SDGs, the Science Department of Mayoor School, Noida organized an Inter House Science Competition, wherein students of class VII gave Power Point Presentation on ‘The Sustainable Development Goals’ on April 28, 2022.
The interesting event witnessed all the participating students taking pledge to contribute in the Government’s efforts in attaining sustainable future for all and create awareness about the SDGs among people around them. Mansidak Singh and Saadhya Prakash of Varun House bagged the first position followed by Avneey Rawat and Aliyah of Salil House. The third position was claimed by Aarna Jain and Maryam Nigarish of Amber House.
Reiterating the importance of sustainable development for preserving our planet, Principal, Alka Awasthi applauded the efforts and enthusiasm of the contestants and their mentors for promoting mindful measures of sustainability.
 
Inter House Maths Quiz 

The Maths Department of Mayoor School, Noida organised an Inter House Quiz for the students of Class VIII on 25 April 2022 for assessing their mathematical skills, proficiency and aptitude. 

The event which aimed at encouraging students to establish a relationship between theory and application of the learnt concepts, witnessed contestants participate enthusiastically. Madhurya Ahuja (VIII A), Harshit Verma (VIII E) and Vanya Agarwal (VIII G) of Amber House bagged the First Position, Bhavni Seth (VIII A), Vihaan Aggarwal (VIII H) and Nikunj Budhiraja (VIII I) of Salil House got the Second Position. The Third Position was claimed by Aditya Joshi (VIII B), Shiv Jhunhunwala (VIII B) and Anjani Singh Rathore (VIII D) of Varun house. 
Reiterating the benefits of Maths in our day to day life, Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi appreciated the efforts put in by the students and congratulated the winners.

Digi Publicité: An Inter-house IT Competition 

The Computer Department of Mayoor School, Noida organized an Inter-House competition on the topic 'Digi Publicité' for the students of class IX on April 22, 2022 for acquainting them with the fundamentals of the world of Advertisement. The participants of all five teams presented E-brochures to advertise a product for a new business. Showcasing their talent, the students participated enthusiastically discussing the product and the tools used in creating interesting brochures. The first position was bagged by Sanyukta Mukherjee of Amber House whereas Agamya Wadhera of Varun House and Ishaan Bansal of Krishanu House were declared the first and second runners-up of the competition.
Appreciating the earnest efforts of the students and their mentors, Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi congratulated the winners and urged all to keep themselves abreast of the advancements in technology.
 
Inter Section Article Writing Competition
 
The Hindi Department of Mayoor School, Noida organized an Inter Section Article writing competition for the students of classes IX and X on 19 April 2022 for providing them a platform to showcase their creativity and writing skills. 
Participating enthusiastically, the students expressed their views on interesting topics like ‘Jeewan or Anushasan’, ‘Digital Bharat’, ‘Janani Vasundhara’ and ‘Vigyan or Manav Kalyan’ with great perception and insight. In class X category, Ojas Bisla of X-C bagged the first position followed by Shreeya Yadav of X E and Avni Gupta of X F in the second and third positions respectively. Likewise, in class IX, Kashvi Agarwal of IX A was declared the winner whereas Arya Chaudhary of IX B and Nandini Chhetre of IX E were announced as the first and second runners-up respectively.
Applauding the participants for displaying a seamless blend of creativity and articulateness, Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi urged all the students to participate in such literary activities.
