Mayoor School, Noida hosted its Annual Sports and Cultural Fiesta–UDAAN for the students of classes III - VIII on 4 February 2023 amidst great cheer and excitement. Major General Vikram Dev Dogra, AVSM, and recipient of the Sword of Honour and Gold Medal from IMA was the eminent Chief Guest. General Dogra is a keen sportsman and the first serving General in the world to participate in the Ironman Competition at the age of 58. The magnificent event was based on the theme of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav being celebrated across India to commemorate 75 years of our Independence and the glorious history of India. The esteemed members of the Management accompanied by the Principal, Vice Principal and the Heads along with distinguished guests and parents graced the occasion with their benign presence.
The Opening ceremony was initiated with March Past by the students of the five houses – Amber, Krishanu, Salil, Varun and Vasudha exuding oneness, fidelity and loyalty. Thereafter the torch was lit to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play. Zesty display by Mayoorians enthralled the viewers during the exciting drill and spectacular dance performances. Spectators held their breath throughout the karate demonstration and the equestrian events. In cognisance of accentuating the importance of health and fitness, field and track events were organised which witnessed students enthusiastically cheering for their House mates. Houses were awarded prizes for their performance throughout the year and Varun House received the trophy of the ‘Best House’. Excitement knew no boundaries when bus drivers and housekeeping staff set the track on fire. Surprise struck the spectators during Grand Finale which encapsulated the ‘Veer Gatha’ showcasing India’s struggle for Independence and formation of a free India radiating patriotic fervour and confidence.
The Chief Guest, in his address, appealed the students to imbibe the value of sportsmanship and congratulated the school for putting up such a fantastic show.
Lauding the indomitable spirit of the participants, Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi urged the sports enthusiasts to channel their energy to win personal milestones and work towards the making of a progressive India.
