Special Assembly on Guru Nanak Jayanti at Mayoor School
Celebrating Unity, Peace, and Harmony
Students of Class VIII I of Mayoor School gathered on 12th November 2024 to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, marking the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism. The special assembly was an expression of reverence for the teachings of Guru Nanak and also an opportunity to foster a sense of unity, peace, and harmony among the students.
The assembly began with a prayer,” Ek Onkar” a key Sikh prayer that emphasizes the oneness of God followed by a short skit depicting key events from Guru Nanak's life and his teachings of equality, service, and devotion. The performances were both moving and educational, helping to deepen our understanding of Guru Nanak's message of love and humanity.
The program concluded with the distribution of Prasad (holy offering) to all present, symbolizing the act of sharing and community, which is central to Sikh tradition.
In her address to the students, the Vice Principal, Ms. Nidhi Kapoor, spoke about the timeless teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, emphasizing the values of peace, equality, and kindness that transcend all barriers.
Overall, the special assembly on Guru Nanak Jayanti was a meaningful and enriching experience for everyone involved. It not only celebrated the spiritual essence of the occasion but also instilled in the students a deeper understanding of the values of harmony, equality, and compassion. The event was a reminder of the rich cultural heritage of India and the importance of maintaining unity in diversity.
