Beyond the Canvas: Discovering the Heart of Indian Crafts

Mayoor School students from Classes XI and XII recently embarked on an enriching visit to a local Crafts Village, where they gained invaluable insights into India's diverse and vibrant artistic traditions. The visit provided a unique opportunity for students to observe and learn about several traditional art forms firsthand.

The highlight of the day included an exploration of Madhubani painting, where students witnessed the intricate patterns and vibrant colors characteristic of this folk art from Bihar. They also delved into the delicate beauty of Sanjhi art, a traditional paper-cutting craft used for devotional purposes, primarily from Mathura. The rich storytelling and meticulous detail of Rajasthani miniature painting captivated the students, offering a glimpse into the historical narratives and artistic techniques of this exquisite form. Finally, the visit concluded with an appreciation of terracotta sculptures, showcasing the earthy craftsmanship and cultural significance of these ancient clay creations.

Principal Ms. Alka Awasthi reiterated that such visits are crucial for students to connect with India's rich cultural heritage and appreciate the timeless artistry of artisans.
